O10.3 Palliative oxygen therapy for dyspnoea
There is little evidence to support the use of oxygen therapy in patients with dyspnoea and mild hypoxaemia (Abernethy 2010) [evidence level II]. The prescription of oxygen in these clinical situations should be made on an individual basis. Oxygen therapy should perhaps be considered following a trial of opioid or anxiolytic agent to control dyspnoea.
